Survey Technician – Heavy Civil

Location: Taylorsville, UT
Position Type: Full-Time

 

Job Summary

The Survey Technician supports construction layout, GPS control, and data management for Geneva Rock projects along the Wasatch Front. You will operate Trimble surveying systems, and coordinate closely with project managers, superintendents, and CAD staff to ensure accurate staking and machine-control data on highway, site-development, and utility projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform construction layout and stake grading, utilities, and structures.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Trimble GPS rovers, total stations, and data collectors.
  • Work with project teams to calculate offsets, alignments, and cut/fill quantities.
  • Maintain survey equipment, vehicle, and accurate field notes; comply with all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain an insurable driving record and travel to project sites along the Wasatch Front as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 2+ years of heavy-civil construction layout using Trimble surveying equipment.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; able to interpret plans and relay information to field crews.
