Job Summary: The Assistant Shop Supervisor supports the Equipment Superintendent in overseeing daily operations,
ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining a productive work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
• Perform duties of a lead mechanic.
• Support the equipment superintendent in their responsibilities in their absence.
• Assist in managing all shop team members, equipment, plant maintenance, and condition of facility.
• Assist in managing the completion of maintenance projects.
• Participate in setting and overseeing the achievement of performance standard goals.
• Assist in scheduling equipment for repair, brooms, mobile fuelers, and team members.
• Manage a state highway safety inspection station.
• Coordinate repairs and scheduling with other divisions.
• Supervise several team members, including foremen and leads.
• Supervise and train shop staff, providing guidance on best practices and customer service.
• Cover multiple locations as required.
• Maintain tools as required to do the job.
• Maintain commercial driver’s license (CDL) and department of transportation (DOT) medical card.
• Operate forklift.
• Review, understand, and adhere to all union contracts.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain insurable driving record.

Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Two year diesel mechanic certificate preferred.
• Five to seven years experience at journeyman mechanic level.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Weight lifted: Up to 50 pounds
• Physical Movement: Will frequently kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist body, use hands to handle,
control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, stretch, bend, push pull, lift, or carry heavy objects, support body for
long periods of time.
• Speaking / Listening: Needs to be able to communicate effectively with supervision, follow instructions, and
understand safety requirements. Needs to be able to hear sounds and recognize difference between them as well
as focus on one source of sound and ignore others.
• Working Conditions: Exposed to hazardous equipment, situations, and conditions. Sometimes will work
outdoors at work site and indoors in the repair shop, exposed to all weather conditions. Will also be exposed to
sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and a variety of lighting conditions, from dim to light.
